My Nik, DxO and Macphun CK applications all created a preset for me for some reason, Aurora HDR didn't, but it's easy enough to do so using the instructions above. The second workflow is the old standby Photo>Edit in. The "transfer" workflow is relatively new AFAIK I've only seen it with DxO and Macphun. And I, among others, DO use this workflow because some operations on RAW files work better than on TIFFs. And a RAW, of course, does NOT have you Lr adjustments. (note that "transfer," which is used for both Macphun and DxO). The first is the RAW workflow from File>Plugin Extras>Transfer to. There are TWO ways to use Aurora (or the Macphun CK applications or the DxO applications) via a plugin. I'm talking about what happens when you use the Aurora Lightroom plugin to send one or more images directly from Lightroom to Aurora.īTW, there is an update, so perhaps they've fixed this as well as the installation problems (the plugin was installed in the root Library folder rather than the users Library folder). That's a valid workaround, but that's not what I'm talking about. Of course you can export your images to any format you want and then import them into Aurora. You need to setup your own Export parameters. That proves that the original DNG was sent, not a derivative tiff. I got an error message however, saying that Aurora doesn't support this type of DNG. If Lightroom would send a tiff that is generated from that DNG, there would be no problem doing that. I am sure that is what is happening, for the following reason: I tried to send a single file to Aurora, and chose an HDR DNG that I created in Lightroom 6. You can even then make multiple Virtual copies and do your bracketing that way (not best but works). I'm not sure about Aperture I seem to recall sending RAW via plugins to other editors required some extra steps or something.ĭon't think that is what is happening or know their reasoning but who doesn't make import adjustments to the RAW files, spot healing, WB, pre sharpen, etc.? I setup and Export dialog to Rename files, set to tiff, save to temp folder, launch into Aurora. And it sends the RAW to Aurora, as it does with the other Macphun applications, so that you are working with Macphun's own RAW processor. I'm kinda surprised they even bother with software that's been deprecated, but if you do commit to that you should have such a core functionality working when you release it. From comments elsewhere it seems Macphun is aware of this, so I think it's a bug, i.e. I tested sending multiple photos from Aperture via the plugin and got the same result: just one was sent to Aurora. I hope I am not over reacting, but this feature is common enough that I did not even consider the possibility that it would be excluded. Nowhere in their FAQ page do they address this glaring omission. I will keep it if they can assure me that the bracketed feature will be added in the near future. That is also why I purchased the Pro edition. You would think that they would have published that "little caveat" somewhere.
